THE Ezra Track Team Board (ETTB) has started an athletics camp in Tororo and will contribute towards the construction of a wall around the King George VI stadium.
The offer is aimed at improving training conditions at the ETTB camp launched by Tororo authorities on Monday.
Tororo Mayor Jack Ogolla officially opened the camp that started off with 26 runners on Monday. Tororo Municipal sports officer Augustine Emojong will manage the camp.
The camp will mainly feature sprinters from the eastern region. Athletes will be based at Rock High School both during and after the school term.
ETTB patron Michael Ezra who was in Tororo earlier, said the area was chosen because of eastern region’s outstanding show in the sprints at national schools and ETTB championships.
ETTB has in a move to strengthen talent development also established camps in Kapchorwa and Lira. The Kapchorwa camp is for middle and long distance athletes while the one in Lira is for sprint and field events.
