BOB Woolmer, the International Cricket Council (ICC) high performance manager arrives in Uganda for a three-day working tour tomorrow.

Woolmer, a former national coach of South Africa and also Wisden cricketer of the year 1976, was appointed by the ICC in 2001 to assist member countries prepare for the challenge of competing in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa.

He will make his maiden visit at the invitation of the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA).

Woolmer will inspect playing facilities, meet sponsors , the UCA executive, the British High Commissioner and the India Association boss.

He will also give coaching tips to the national cricket team and the U-19 currently preparing for World Cup qualifiers.

The ICC programme is tracking countries with the potential to move up the ladder. Kenya is considered for test status, Namibia and Uganda for the One Day grades.
