NATIONAL Council of Sports (NCS) will name an independent probe committee to look into match fixing scandals in the soccer league at 10.00am today at Lugogo.

Denis Obua, president of the soccer governing body FUFA, last week asked NCS to institute an independent inquiry after expressing dissatisfaction with a league committee probe team.

The new team’s task will be to come up with credible findings, after the first probe set up by the NFLC was rubbished by FUFA and some clubs.

“They (probe team) worsened everything. There was actually no probe,” Obua told journalists last week about the NFLC recommendations to FUFA.

The independent body, to be headed by someone to be chosen by the NCS, faces daunting challenges.

The league ended two weeks ago but no champion has been declared because title aspirants Villa and Express, the prime suspects in match fixing allegations, will be at the centre of the investigations.
