Six people, three of them from the same family, on Saturday drowned in Lake Victoria in Mayuge district, when the canoe they were travelling in capsized.
Only two bodies of Shaban Mbatiya and George Kakungu, were recovered by a search mounted by relatives and fishermen.


Man held

MUKONO Court Grade Two Magistrate Lydia Wabuze has committed a man to the High Court to face trial over the alleged murder of his wife.
Joseph Odoi, 53, of Nakoyedde village in Kayunga district, reportedly assaulted Margaret Kayinza and injured her seriously, which later led to her death.


Teacher fined

A teacher has been sentenced to a fine of sh0.6 or 12 months imprisonment for attempting to get more than one passport.
The Nakawa Court Chief Magistrate, Margaret Mafabi, convicted Robert Kyazze alias Robert Kalyowa, 27, of Kireka zone A’ in Wakiso district, on his own plea of guilt to the charge.
