The SPLA Director for External Security, Commander Edward Lino Abyei, has advised LRA leader Joseph Kony to accept dialogue with the Government of Uganda as the only way to survive.

“We appeal to those who are leading LRA to take peaceful resolution as the only way for them to see the sun in 2004,” Abyei said.

The commander, who had flown from Kenya, where a comprehensive Sudan peace talk took place, said this during a meeting with members of the southern Sudan community in Kampala on Monday.

He said Kony, who has waged a guerrilla war in northern Uganda for 17 years, was also a threat to the security of southern Sudan.

Lino blamed the LRA for committing atrocities against southern Sudan residents.

“We are not going to keep quiet about this. The SPLA will have to do something to safeguard the lives of our people,” he added.

He said once the peace deal is sealed with the Government of Omar El Bashir, SPLA will have full control of southern Sudan, and therefore Kony will have no springboard to wage war.
