MBARARA - Members of the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) have petitioned the Catholic Church to amend its doctrine of not ordaining impotent men as priests. The executive director of FUE, Rosemary Ssenabulya, read out a petition from 30 disabled members on Friday during a workshop on managing disability at the workplace at Mbarara University Inn. She said the policy discriminates against persons with disabilities.

MP accused
NAIROBI – There was uproar in the Kenyan parliament yesterday when Kamukunji MP Norman Nyagah was named the financier of the murder of constitutional review delegate Dr. Odhiambo Mbai’s last month. Kasipul Kabondo MP Peter Owidi said Nyagah should be arrested. But Nyagah sprang up and said he had recorded statements with the Police regarding the murder. He denied any role in the act and said he had lived in agony, following the rumours of his involvement.

KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni has held talks with two investors from Thailand. Tawatchai Sutton (coffee) and Sakol Sachdev (textiles) discussed investment opportunities in Uganda with the President on Tuesday. Tawatchai showed Museveni samples of liquid coffee made out of fresh coffee beans.

UYM plea
KAMPALA – Uganda Young Movementists (UYM) vice chairman Francis Mulekwa has said the recently formed Popular Resistance Against Life President will sabotage government programmes. Speaking in Mengo yesterday, Asiimwe said UYM supports a third term for Museveni. He said the youth should stop criticising President Yoweri Museveni.
