Kaggwa said doses of anti-measles and tetanus vaccines, Vitamin A and deworming drugs had been delivered at 14,300 immunisation centres countrywide for the October 15-19 exercise.
“Measles is the fourth most lethal child disease after malaria, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
We have sent out 15 million doses of the measles vaccine, one million doses of tetanus vaccines mainly for the Busoga area, five million doses of Vitamin A, eight million doses of Albendazole (for deworming),†Kaggwa said.
Leaders like the Nabagereka, Omukama Oyo, the Kyabazinga, Omukama Iguru and MPs have been facilitated to create awareness.
On the measles status of Uganda’s neighbours, Kaggwa said apart from Sudan and DR Congo who have territories problems, the other neighbours have done their part.
He said the post campaign plans include strengthening the routine Expanded Programme for Immunisation, mop up activities for districts that fail to achieve the 95% coverage and laboratory-based surveillance.
