APPAREL Tri-Star Uganda Limited has sent off its first order of children’s wear to the The Children Place, the biggest chain store in America.
This is the first time a Ugandan firm is exporting children’s wear to any country. The deal worth $1.4m(about sh2.8b) was flagged off on Wednesday by the firm’s CEO, Vellupillai Kananathan, AGOA overseer, Susan Muhwezi and the factory manager, Sivaraman Rajasundaram.
Kananathan said due to increasing demand, a night shift would start next week.
He said 360 more workers, including boys had been recruited to boost the required output.
Muhwezi thanked management for creating jobs for Ugandans.
