Lt. Gen. Moses Ali, the First Deputy Premier, has decided to go back to school and has enrolled at Makerere University’s Law School, reports Alfred Wasike.

“I started my classes last week. I really want to increase my knowledge. Since childhood, I have always wanted to study law. It was one of my ambitions but I have been busy throughout my life doing other things for national development,” an excited Minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees said recently.

“Insha Allah (God willing), I will finish the course in four years.

Whether I become a lawyer or not is not the issue here. I may study other things after I have finished this,” Ali, also MP for Moyo East, said enthusiastically, adding that he was going to create time for his studies.

Ali, now married with children was born on April 5, 1939 at Maliaderi, Pakele in Adjumani district, went to Adjumani Muslim Primary School (1951-1954), Pakele Church of Uganda Primary School (1955-1956), Erepi Church of Uganda Primary School (1957), Church of Uganda Junior Secondary School Nyangilia at Koboko (1958-1959).

He later went to Teso College Aloet (1962), Busega SSS (1963), Old Kampala SSS (1964-1966).

In 1968, he underwent Officer Cadet Training in Israel, Paratrooper Instructors’ Training in Israel (1969), Company Commanders Course in Israel (1971), joined Camberley Staff College in UK where he obtained a P.S.C.Degree in Military Science (1972).

In 1967/68, he was a teacher at Kotch Goma Church of Uganda Primary School and Anaka Catholic Girls School.
