ABID Alam, the chairman, Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), has requested the Government to arrange regular meetings for them with President Yoweri Museveni where crucial economic issues would be ironed out.

“We are in the process of setting up a panel from the private sector which should be facilitated to meet the President and other policy makers, every after three months, for at least two hours to discuss matters of policy,” Alam said recently.

He said President Museveni had proved to be their ally and an advocate of economic reform. he said they should therefore directly discuss issues slowing down the manufacturer’s progress.

Alam said issues to be discussed included capitalisation of local businesses, industrialisation process, industrial production and tax policy.
