SEVEN Kampala City Council (KCC) cashiers have been interdicted after the authorities discovered a loss of sh214m.

They are Eric Sabiti (headquarters), Charles Kizza (Rubaga), Juliet Namubiru (Kawempe), S. Male (Central), Jessica Hawumba (Makindye), Gorreti Namukasa, Nawume Musoke and Maria Ilalu (Makindye).

They were interdicted on Friday by Kampala Town Clerk Gordon Mwesigye.

Sources at City Hall yesterday said they had been KCC employees for over 15 years.

Internal auditors allegedly implicated the cashiers in the loss of revenue collected from building plans between July 2002 and July 2003.

Early this year Mayor Ssebaana Kizito stopped the district works, physical, planning and inspection departments from approving building plans in the city.
