SIR— More than a year since they were elected into office, the Makerere University Convocation (MUC) have no developments in place to the knowledge of the members. Prior to their election, the concerned public complained about the non-performance of MUC, yet there was sure funding of sh10,000 per new recruit (enforced prior to graduation).

It is surprising that in spite of attempts by Makerere University Private Students’ Parents Association to establish working relations with MUC, the convocation executive have simply remained indifferent. Attempts to get office accommodation from them to date has not received any response. And a document, A Better Makerere University Convocation, has not received a comment from them.

The problem the MUC executive have is taking on more than they can manage. The MUC executive is not ceremonial but is meant to address issues concerning convocation members and the university community. We members expect positive developments including mobilisation of the currently non-active members.

Short of this, it is pointless
for the executive to continue
in office.
