THE Government is processing a national transport master plan to improve the flow of traffic, the state minister for transport, Andruale Awuzu, has said.

Awuzu, in a speech read by the commissioner for transport regulation, Patrick Sanya, said the plan would be ready by May 2004.

Sanya was on Thursday speaking during the national Non-Motorised Transport master plan conference at Hotel Millennium in Jinja.

He said the plan included developing and maintaining adequate infrastructure and provision of safe and efficient transport services.

Awuzu said the project would check traffic jams, air pollution and pedestrian safety.

Jinja mayor David Wakudumira asked the Police to organise training workshops for road users, saying this would help to reduce road accidents.
