THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has warned the Ministry of Public Service to settle the out standing pension arrears to avoid loss of more money through litigation and court settlements. Government owes pensioners over sh265b.

The committee chaired by Jack Sabiiti (Rukiga) yesterday cautioned the Public Service Permanent Secretary, Jimmy Lwamafa (right), to push government to settle the outstanding arrears in pensions and salaries before the aggrieved parties go to court.

MPs demanded to know what plans government and specifically the Ministry of Public Service had to settle the issue of pension and salary arrears that government owes to thousands of retired public servants.
