THE Government will spend over sh22b in compensation to people whose land and structures will be affected by the Northern Kampala bypass.

It is considering no compensations in future, to people who deliberately build in road reserves.

The sh83b project to start in March 2004 overruns many houses and structures from Mandela stadium on Jinja road, crossing Bombo road to join Busega roundabout.

“This is only humane. We are going to pay up to sh22b and the people are not happy with even that,” Nathan Byanyima, a member of the works and communications committee, said during a session at Parliament yesterday.
