STATE minister for information Nsaba Buturo has appealed to the media to act responsibly and guide the country through the forthcoming political transition.
He told guests during the Broadcasting Council end-of-year party at the Grand Imperial hotel, Kampala, that the media was a pace maker in the society.
“You should help us in building the Uganda we all want. The one which is tolerant, the one that ensures our morals are upheld because a country without morals is as good as dead,†he added.
The broadcasting council chairman, Eng. Godfrey Mutabazi, regretted that broadcasting was given only half a page in the Information and Communication Technol-ogy policy recently approved by the Cabinet.
He said there are 12 million radio receivers and over a million television sets in the country. He said 51% or 13 million people listen to the radio everyday.
