A couple in their 20’s allegedly committed suicide after discovering that they were HIV positive.

The Kabale district Police commander, Gasper Obingu-Onzi, said Prosper Owaruhanga, 22 and his 20-year-old fiancée, Lydia Nyirebukyo, committed suicide after they tested positive for HIV at the nearby Kabale Hospital.

The two, who were planning to wed this month, were residents of Gaju cell, Central Division in the municipality.
Onzi said a bottle of Cooper Tox, a pesticide, was discoverd in their bedroom.

The couple was rushed by the Police to Kabale Hospital, where they died on arrival.
