Kamuli district education officer Ibrahim Kanakulya was on Tuesday granted bail by Jinja High Court presided over by Justice Vincent Zehurikize. Kanakulya has been on remand in Kamuli Prison since January 23. He was arrested on the orders of the Inspector General of Government and charged with of abuse of office and causing financial loss of sh160m to the Government. He will appear in court on March 5.

LC5 chief warns on corruption

District chairman Nelson Chelimo has warned members of the district service commission against corruption and abuse of office while recruiting and promoting civil servants within the district. “You should maintain your integrity because we trust you,” Chelimo told the newly-constituted district service commission team during an induction course recently.
