THE death of her parents did not stand in the way of her success. Caroline Apako, 20 of Naalya Secondary School in Namugongo, has done her guardians, Dr. Joseph Oonyu and Margaret Ikilai of Pallisa proud.

Apako, who did History, Economics, geography and Divinity scored 24 points.

“I did not want to burden my guardians. I had to please them to show that I appreciate all the support they have given me,” Apako said at The New Vision head office in Industrial Area, Kampala yesterday.

Her mother, Laura Akiding, died in 1996, she said, while her father, Emmanuel Eroku, passed away before her mother.

Apako wants to study development economics at Makerere University. She attributes her success to God, her guardians and her school.
