HUNDREDs of people got ‘saved’ (born again) during Pastor Robert Kayanja’s crusade at Kaunda Ground in Gulu district. The crusade, which run from March 13 to 15, was attended by thousands of people. Nine-year-old Reagan Okumu said he had never seen his 69-year-old grandmother walk.

His grandmother, Grace Akello, was among the hundreds of people who got saved during the crusade. Okumu could not hold back his tears as he saw Akello struggle to take small steps.

Kayanja called upon the crowd to have faith in God, saying it was time for the people Gulu to be blessed. “The miracles you are seeing today are a sign that God is to bless the people of Acholi,” Kayanja said, amidst screams of Halleluia from the crowd.

Kayanja said Jesus was the saviour “yesterday, today and forever”. “It is not me that heals you, but the almighty God and you must ask him to forgive your sins,” Kayanja said. He said the people of Gulu had faced many challenges, but added that 2009 was a year of blessing.

He said the problems of Africa were a result of poor administration. “We as Africans should stop being beggars and become believers. Through belief, we shall achieve success,” he said. The crusade was attended by Pastor Peter Sematimba and other pastors from Pentecostal churches in Gulu.
