THE 4th Lake Victoria Triathlon is set for this Sunday, with organisers anticipating a big turn-up for the event at Entebbe Sailing Club.

The triathlon consists of a 1km swim, 30km bicycle ride and a 10km run, according to Fridtof Behnsen, one of the organisers. Behnsen said over 30 participants are expected to compete in the challenge.

Cam Mcleay won last year’s event followed by Shariff Kakooza in 2:32.22 and 2:35.58 respectively.
The women’s category was won by Laura Frederich in 3:08.45 followed by Marie Monghan in 3: 25.35.

The event is sponsored by Moonberg Lager and Rwenzori Water. Action will mainly be centred around the Botanical Gardens, the airport, Nakivuvogo landing site and back to the Sailing Club across State House Hill and at the golf course.

Behnsen said the swimming event will take a triangular route on Lake Victoria to allow spectators vantage viewing and ensure the participants’ safety.

The organisers have urged corporations and interests groups to register teams in the corporate team challenge category.
