THE first phase of the multibillion Royal Palm Homes Project in Butabika, a Kampala suburb has been completed, with 83 units now ready for grabs. The project is a joint venture between Property Services, a property management and development company and Mukwano Industries.

The two are developing a residential estate on the 150 acres of prime land on Butabika Hill, 9km from Kampala city, overlooking Lake Victoria. Geraldine Kaberuka, the general manager, said on Wednesday that their aim was to provide a properly planned and modern eco-friendly estate.

The estate will have a road network, modern hospital, commercial centre, parks, nature reserve and leisure facilities. In total, 1,400 housing units of one to four bed room apartments and semi-detached and detached storey houses.

The prices will range from $119,500 (about sh260m) to $210,000 (about sh450m). “We are about 20% cheaper than other developers on the market. Our three bed room is cheaper than a two bed room flat in Bugolobi or Naguru,” Kaberuka defended the rates.
