RICHARD Masembe first ventured into music with Musaayimuto Guitar Singers, a kadongokamu ensemble in 2000. However, his album, Obulamu Bw’ensi, did not fare well on the market. He gave up music and resorted to carpentry.

Masembe’s passion for music, however, did not die out. He has recorded an eight-track album Tutambule ne Yezu. The songs are spiced with modern dance-hall beats, whose beauty complements Masembe’s throaty voice.

The title-track Tutambule Ne Yezu (let us walk with Jesus through the narrow path) is arguably the hottest song on the album.

Done in reggae style, the song has become popular because of its chorus, which is adopted from a common old Catholic hymn.
