YOUR LETTER OF THE WEEK

Unemployment is increasing at an alarming rate.

Bail out jobless graduates
Unemployment is increasing at an alarming rate.

With many youths qualifying from the five public universities and over 20 private ones, what are the human resource managers in this country up to?

I know of banks where there are only three tellers and the customers have to waste a lot of time queuing up.

Can’t the jobless graduates roaming the streets plug this gap? It is human resource managers who give technical advice to the managements of the institutions they work for.

Although production managers may suggest the nature of the labour force needed, it is the human resource managers who determine who to recruit. In many cases, these managers allow corruption to infiltrate their systems and end up using technical ‘know who’ (employing relatives or friends).

Please be patriotic and credible enough to give merit a chance so that the right people get the jobs.

I support the MPs’ suggestion to restrain foreign investors from employing foreigners leaving Ugandans redundant. This must stop. For God and my country.
