BRIAN Umony maintains that KCC FC still possesses the necessary ammunition to complete their continental assignment on Saturday despite suffering a loss of confidence in the domestic league.

The 22-year-old striker, who has been everything for club and country in recent months, took some heat off coach George Nsimbe yesterday by reassuring worried fans over their side’s recent faltering league form.

“I’m asking the fans to trust me when I say there is no crisis here. We have just not given enough and the results have been disappointing. But we have fantastic players and a good coach. We will get things right in South Africa. There’s no doubt about that,” said Umony.

There are misgivings over the way KCC have suddenly looked vulnerable. Their two consecutive league draws against Simba (1-1) and Youfra (0-0) have literally intensified concerns over the team’s abilities of pulling off a major result against South Africa’s SuperSport United under floodlights in Johannesburg this weekend.

“We know what the problems have been. We know what we have to do and we have met and talked about that often,” he added.

Umony, part of the squad currently camped at the Lugogo Hostel, concedes that KCC will be confronted with the hardest job they have ever faced during his time at the club on Saturday.

For the simple reason that SuperSport, still smarting from the 2-1 first-leg defeat, will be hell-bent on recovering to reach the next round.

“We are ready for them, but don’t expect anything less than a really explosive display from them,” said Umony, whose 16-match goal scoring run ended last week. “We expect a very good SuperSport performance, one that goes for goals right from the start. We must make sure we match, if not better, our first-leg performance.

Other than midfielder Patrick Ssenfuka who has for the last three weeks been suffering from a hand injury, the rest of the KCC team is injury-free.

The team will leave tomorrow.
