The German Ambassador, Reinhard Bucholz, has said Germany would continue supporting Uganda. He was on Friday commissioning a sh300m health centre in Kibaale district.

“German non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have been funding developmental projects in Uganda. I want to assure you that the support will continue,” Bucholz said.

He challenged Ugandans and other agencies to set up foundations to request for aid. “You cannot be at zero and expect the Germans to help you. You have to work hard, then aid can come later,” he said.

The health centre was constructed by EMESCO development foundation, a local NGO, with support from LandsAid, a German NGO. The health centre which can admit over 40 patients, has X-ray services, an ultrasound scanner and an operating theatre.

The executive director of EMESCO, Emily Kugonza, urged the residents to utilise the facility to improve their productivity and create wealth. He said with the support from development partners, the health centre would be upgraded to a hospital.
