AFTER their 62 run-win over Denmark in Saturday’s 9th-12th semi-final, Uganda takes on Bermuda knowing a win would be good for a ninth place finish at the ICC World Cup Qualifier.

Uganda’s first century at the tournament came one match too late but Nehal Bibodi’s 104 off 104 was good enough to help set Denmark an ultimately unreachable target of 293.

Considering it was the second successive occasion Uganda surpassed 290 runs, Ebrahim Mohammed will be confident his men can continue their recovery from the disappointment of missing out on the Super Eight with another victory.

Not that it will be that straightforward. On Saturday Bermuda showed what they are capable of with an impressive response of 256/2 in 48.2 overs against Oman –– Uganda ’s last conqueror and the team responsible for their absence in the Super Eight.

The 2007 World Cup finalists will thereby represent a real challenge to Uganda’s revised ambitions. However by beating Denmark, Uganda is guaranteed a top-ten finish has avoided a drop down to the third division.

Uganda’s achievement so far also means the Uganda Cricket Association retain access to the ICC’s High Performance and Development funding.

After realising the minimum target of finishing among the top 10, Ebrahim could offer chance to the unused players to feature against Bermuda.

Lawrence Ssematimba is one man likely to have his first feel of the wicket today.
