EDITOR—How could The New Vision stoop so low as to publish the article, “Would you date Jesus?”, on April 11? On page 15 of the same issue is a picture of Jesus taken from Zeffirelli film “Jesus of Nazareth” and beside it is written relationships—nothing wrong with that.

Every Christian’s desire is to have a love relationship with Jesus. But here our agreement ends and we go different ways.

Why do you always give the impression to the public that love is identified with sex? At least that is the terminology used in your article, “Would you date Jesus?” There are plenty of other examples in The New Vision which justify my statement of “always”.

Why do you have to use religion-related figures to insult the public? Your article is an insult to the faith of believers. The article is cheap, vulgar and disgusting, to say the least.

The poem published beside the article is no better. Please, do not add insult to injury by excusing such literature with ‘freedom of speech’ like the Danish did when they insulted Islam with their cartoons about Mohammed.

Freedom of speech should always and for ever be to respect the feelings, beliefs and sensibilities of others. We live in a world of closely-knit societies where respect for each other is the basis of living peacefully and amicably together.
