CITY Tyres has pledged sh3m to help boost the Hared Source of the Nile half marathon slated for Sunday.

Procceeds from the event will go to the Jinja Hospital Paediatrics ward in a bid to fight infant mortality.

“Eastern Uganda has the highest rate of infant mortality because of lack of adequate medical facilities, among others. We are proud to be associated with UAF and Hared in this noble cause of saving lives,” City Tyres general manager Richard Kumar said as he handed the donation to athletics official Okot Omony at the company offices in Industrial Area yesterday.

City Tyres will enter 40 runners in the corporate races where companies pay sh500,000 for every five participants.

A total of 900 runners including elite athletes Moses Kipsiro and Adero Nyakisi will take part.
