The Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has praised Asian investors for their contribution to Uganda’s development.

“Asian businessmen contributed to the industrialisation of our country during the 1960s,” Bukenya said at his home in Kakiri on Friday.

Speaking at a meeting with His Holiness Swami Sri Satyamitranandiji, the spiritual leader of the Hindu, Bukenya said industrialisation would bridge the gap between the poor and rich.

Satyamitranandiji is in Uganda on a five-day visit.

Bukenya said the Government had guaranteed freedom of worship to all Ugandans irrespective of colour and tribe.

Satyamitranandiji called upon governments to be non-violent while solving conflicts.

He said: “God teaches humanity to love each other, be patient and tolerant to one another.”

Love and tolerance, Satyamitranandiji explained, were important in creating peace in the world.

He noted that the absence of love and tolerance makes human beings to be like other animals.

Tororo Municipality MP Sanjay Tanna thanked the Government for according VIP treatment to their leader.

Satyamitranandiji, he said, spent a lot of time in silence and meditation, praying for humanity and undertaking self- penance. Tanna described his visit as a blessing to Uganda.
