EDITOR—MPS should not dismiss the performance evaluation report by the African Leadership Institute. In fact they should instead thank David Pulkol for coming up with the innovation. An evaluation of this nature offers the MPs an opportunity for improvement to justify their tenure.

They should be reminded that they are accountable to the electorate and the nation at large. The economic burden of maintaining them is not a light one and can only be justified through good performance.

This is done by clearly and appropriately articulating issues affecting their constituencies and the entire society during the plenary, committees and local fora.

Those who dispute the evaluation results should do it scientifically.
It is time to respect knowledge for which individuals, communities and society pay dearly. By coming up with the evaluation process, Pulkol is providing accountability to the nation and therefore all, including MPS, owe him thanks.
