KCC and URA victoriously walked out of Nakivubo yesterday to set the stage for a grand Uganda Super League title decider on Saturday.

URA pulled off the day’s first win by holding on to a Patrick Ochan 37 minute goal. The Lugogo side later underlined its intentions of retaining the title with a show of class against SC Villa.

Anthony Bongole and Brian Umony were KCC’s heroes with superb long range strikes that put the Lugogo side level with URA at 77 points.

But it was not only the goals in the second game that had the big crowd constantly on its feet.
Contrary to the Bunamwaya versus URA where the winners looked lethargic, both KCC and Villa sprayed passes with well structured tactical formats highlighted by several raids.

Stephen Bengo was the Jogoos’ star. The stocky winger left KCC’s defence dizzy with his dribbles though he failed to find the net. It was Emma Okwi who narrowed the margin in the dying minutes after pouncing on a sluggish Robert Ssenfuka back pass to stab the pall past injured goalkeeper Patrick Ochan.

* Uganda is among the 86 countries earmarked for the World Cup trophy tour ahead of the 2010 show in South Africa next year, reports Swalley Kenyi.

The coveted gold trophy, will leave the headquarters of the world soccer body FIFA in Zurich on September 21 and land in Cairo three days later.

It is yet unclear when the trophy will arrive and leave Uganda, but FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, said yesterday that guidelines for the programme will be obtained soon.

Watson told the weekly PostBank press conference at Mengo that: “I can confirm FIFA has picked Uganda as one of the countries for the World Cup trophy tour.”

Meanwhile, FUFA yesterday named Bunamwaya’s teenage striker Mike Mutyaba on a squad of 18 Cranes players travelling to play an exhibition match against an eastern Uganda select side in Soroti on Sunday. It is Mutyaba’s maiden call to Cranes.
