BUGANDA Kingdom has denied agreeing with the Government to expand Kampala city, an official has said.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday, the deputy information minister, Medard Lubega Ssegoona, said the kingdom had instead asked the Government to reduce the boundaries.
“It was a surprise that the President claimed the Government had agreed with Mengo,†Ssegoona explained.
“We had asked them to reduce on the size of Kampala not to expand it.â€
He said Buganda would not look on as the Government grabs land.
President Yoweri Museveni, while addressing journalists at State House Entebbe on Sunday, said Mengo officials had agreed in an earlier meeting that the Government should find alternative territory to compensate for Mengo municipality.
