CROWN Beverages has offered the national volleyball federation UVF a sh9m sponsorship for the re-branded national junior championship this weekend.

Crown Beverages’ sponsorship and promotions manager David Kazoora handed over the package to UVF president Sadik Nasiwu at the National Council of Sports offices in Lugogo yesterday.

He said that the package, in form of trophies, refreshments and an unspecified cash prize for the MVP under their Mirinda Pineapple brand, would be the beginning of a long term relationship with UVF if the championship is successful.

“We are doing this as a breakthrough into volleyball. We may sign a long time contract after Sunday,” Kazoora told the press conference.

The two-day national Junior Volleyball Championship, slated for St. Lawrence Creamland campus this weekend, has consequently been renamed Mirinda Pineapple National Junior Volleyball championship.

Nasiwu promised to keep the sponsor by offering the Mirinda Pineapple overwhelming mileage.

Winners of the championship, formerly competed for separately in boys’ and girls’ events, will represent Uganda at the East and Central Africa Volleyball championships.

The event is to be hosted by UVF in Kampala later this year.
