Editor—on wednesday, the new vision published a story entitled “UPC diehards want Miria Obote out”. members of the party are perturbed by the behaviour of the elders, Okello Okello, Walubiri and Chris Opio. In their petition, they create an impression that they were removed from party office unconstitutionally and that because the Obote family wanted to grab the assets of the Milton Obote foundation (MOF).

This is not true because all the three are directors on MOF’s board of governors. However, in the party cabinet they had failed to recruit, mobilise or build party structures.

Since we agreed to shorten Miria Obote’s term to allow her to step down in October, we should ignore Robert Kanusu and the three by refusing to sign their ill-intentioned petition and concentrate on contesting in the grassroot elections which are beginning this month.

It is possible some members who were dropped had planned to rig the elections otherwise they would not be so bitter.
