EDITOR—Some people are not happy that President Museveni was personally present during the arrest of Police officers at Nateete last week. The President acted fairly. When a person comes to Uganda and reads the newspapers, he will know that the President of Uganda uses his prerogative powers to rectify what has been done unlawfully by his officers.

The president is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and that legally binds him to discipline police, army and the prisons officers.

Although the police officers had court orders they they did not act lawfully, especially by arresting people at night.
The fact that they carried out the eviction at night suggests that they had an intention of doing wrong.

However, some less humiliating means should be used when arresting police officers so that they don’t lose respect as law enforcement officers.
