Sub-county chiefs warned
KITGUM-The district chairman, John Komakech Ogwok, has threatened to arrest sub-county leaders who are not distributing the food relief that was recently delivered by the Prime Minister’s office. “I have heard that some sub-county leaders are keeping the food in their stores, saying it is too little to be distributed. If that is how things were done, we at the district would have refused the food. I give you one week to distribute the food,” Ogwok said. Ogwok was recently speaking at the closure of a sh1.2b two-year education project under the Northern Uganda Rehabilitation Programme. He said such leaders undermined the implementation of government programmes that are intended to benefit the community. He added that it was a taboo to refuse food in the Acholi culture.
