The resident district commissioner, Edwin Yakobo Komakech, has called for a total ban on cheap gin (waragi) sachets. He said residents drink the whole day, which has left the district underdeveloped. He was recently speaking during an assessment of the needs of former internally displaced persons at Okidi North parish in Atiak sub-county.
Varsity to clean community

Gulu University has started carrying out voluntary activities. The guild president, Jackson Odongo, said the activities will include cleaning trading centres, HIV/AIDS counselling, providing textbooks and organising academic seminars for candidates in secondary schools. He also said the students would advocate for tree planting in response to the global warming.
