The last time he appeared on this page, we were talking about his interest in the South African food franchise, Steers. Now though, it looks like tycoon Habib Kagimu has taken an interest in radio.

We have learnt that the businessman, a partner in Tamoil, the Libyan oil firm charged with constructing the Kampala-Mombasa oil pipeline, is set to open a radio station in Kampala before the end of this year. Unlike other FM stations which offer a diversity of programmes, Kagimu’s radio will only specialise in sports.

Apparently, Kagimu had opted to buy one of the top stations in town, but the owner declined to sell. As he waits allocation of a frequency, we are told Kagimu is already holding meetings at his Martin Road-based Lubbobbo House, where his offices are located, to strategise on which presenters to headhunt. Be very afraid!
