EDITOR — I have been critically looking at the different schools, who were power-houses in sports at one time, but after the sports-interested headmasters or teachers are transferred to other schools, all the budding talent that they tried to groom goes to a waste. Namilyango College, among others of course, is a fine example of this.
Perhaps it’s time the Ministry of Education and Sports came up with a criteria to transfer sports-biased teachers and headmasters in such a way that what has been started shouldn’t be put to waste in the schools.
Also, in order to improve morale, sports lessons should be taken as full-time sessions in classes. This will act as a springboard for the recruitment and harnessing of talent for the future of the country. Wilfred Mulindwa RUBAGA
Great idea ....
EDITOR — News that the government is going to start High Performance Centres across the country is the best dream for any sports lover. It’s through such these centres that we are able to tap and develop talents.
However, my prayer is that this should not be used as a campaign gimmick – as is often the case — but something which will stand the test of time. Timothy Luwaga BWAISE
