NGOs have been asked to present their work plans and budgets to the district local government as required by the Office of the Prime Minister. The district peace, recovery and development plan focal person, James Okidi, said this would enable easy monitoring of the NGOs’ activities. NGOs coordinator George Pele called for transparency.
Youth want war compensation
Acholi youth have appealed to their MPs to push for the ‘war victims compensation Bill’ to pay victims of the LRA war. In a memorandum presented by their leader, Christopher Omara, at a belated International Youth Day event in Awach sub-county on Wednesday, they said the war had left them with nothing to inherit except land. Therefore, they asked the Government to support them to start farming projects through NAADS. Gulu LC5 vice-chairman McMot Kitara attended.
