World Cup buses ready
- South Africa’s government on Sunday launched a rapid bus service ahead of the 2010 soccer World Cup and vowed to work together with the taxi industry that had threatened violent protests against it. Fearful the bus service would hurt their business, the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) threatened a nationwide strike. It lost a court bid to stop the bus service and said it would discuss the strike at a meeting on Monday.

Van Pee best of Ugandans
- Maxime Van Pee was the best placed Ugandan as the second round of the East Africa AMU came to a dramatic close at Jamhuri Park in Nairobi yesterday. Pee took third position at MX60 behind Kenyans’ Tutu Maina and Cruze Muigai. Tanzanian Rebecca Bjerre was contented with fifth position.Kenyans won all the classes to avenge the first leg defeat they suffered to Ugandans last April at Kampala’s Garuga racetrack with a lean team of five.

Uganda for Little League
- Uganda Little League will be given a go ahead to host the Middle East and Africa region competition of Little League International only if inspectors from the International body of Baseball find the needed facilities in place. According to Uganda’s Richard Stanely, the country has the facilities to host a world meet.
