TWO employees of the National Forestry Authority (NFA) survived an attack by boda-boda cyclists in Mpigi town after attempting to intercept a lorry carrying timber felled in a protected forest.

NFA’s chief in Mpigi Victor Ajuma said the victims were part of a team of six deployed to check illegal logging in Nabugulu Forest. He said the team found a pile of timber in the forest and when they were moving out, they found a lorry loaded with timber at the edge of the forest in Boza village.

He added that the driver drove off, but the NFA team caught up with him in Mpigi town where the cyclists attacked them. Four of the NFA staff escaped unhurt.
