Today, Uganda Cup semifinal:
Pirates v Heathens 3pm
Kobs v Monger 5pm

MTN Heathens will have to do without the creative services of Scot Oluoch and Gaston Onono when they come up against resilient G4S Pirates in the semi-final of the Uganda Cup at Kampala Rugby Club today.

Onono and Oluoch failed to recover from their knee injuries. However, Heathens captain Brian Tabaruka sounded confident the Kyadondo side would still make the final despite their absence.

Onono will be replaced by Denis Mullo while coach/player Peter Magona who brings in a wealthy of experience is expected to ably fit in Oluoch’s boots.

“Scot and Gaston are starters in the team for a reason but we have very good cover for them. We have a lot of experience and we should be able to play as a team and win that tough game,” Tabaruka stated.

Heathens, who captured the Super 8 League title last month have had their starters Brian Kikawa and Michael Wokorach released from the national sevens team that will travel to Namibia for an IRB sanctioned tournament next week.

“We are not thinking of any other alternative but to make the final.
Pirates have had good exposure this year in the national team and they have a solid pack. We will have to step our challenge on that front,” Tabaruka stated.

Pirates, who lost out on the league title at hands of Heathens will be out to avenge their defeat.

In the other game that will also be played at Kampala Club, Uganda telecom Kobs take on Entebbe Mongers.

New Kobs coach Herbert Wafula will not take the Mongers lightly given their ability to frustrate giants.
