THE Police in Kayunga district have launched a campaign against drug trafficking.

The campaign was launched in Kangulumira sub-county where five acres of marijuana were destroyed in Kiziika village.

The Police and local leaders took five hours to destroy the plantation located in Musaanya wetland.

The plantation allegedly belongs to Nsamba alias Ragga of Kangulumira trading centre.

The area LC1 chairperson, William Tamale, said Nsamba went into hiding for fear of being arrested.
Residents said Nsamba was selling the narcotic both locally and internationally, adding that he exported it to Juba in southern Sudan.

The district Police commander, Julius Ahimbisibwe, who led the operation with a team of 15 Police officers said the hunt for Nsamba was going on.

“We shall not rest until this man is arrested and prosecuted before the courts of law,” he vowed.
He said the operation was aimed at reducing the increasing crime rate in the district.

Ahimbisibwe added that a similar operation would be launched in other sub-counties in the district.
