AMURU district chairman has welcomed investors to the oil-rich district but warned that the interest of the locals must be respected by all intending investors. “We are not anti-investors. We want investors who will honour our contribution of land and labour as our share equity to joint venture projects.

“I should, however, tell you frankly that no one in Acholi or the greater northern Uganda will tolerate any plans to grab and fence off large tracks of land by individuals or shady companies,” Omach Atube, warned.

Amuru is described as a five-star district for having the largest oil discovery yet, prime agricultural land and Uganda’s largest game park, the Murchison Falls National Park.

Adapt Partners, a development consulting group, together with the district leadership, is promoting the district as an investment destination.

The agency plans to release a detailed updated information on the opportunities in the district through a website, according to the agency’s top officials.
