Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba is giving out her cell phone number to female students to report teachers who sexually harass and engage in sex with their colleagues. Last week, Nabakooba told students at Midland High School in Kawempe that she wanted the students to help her track down ‘irresponsible’ teachers. “I give you my hotline number, 0712,745019. Call me anytime. I will order for the arrest of the teachers who pester you for sex,” she said.

Environment care on syllabus

The Government has introduced a course on environmental management in primary and secondary schools. The Minister of State for Environment, Jessica Eriyo, said this on Saturday at Namugongo Girls Boarding Primary School during the school’s environment day. Student not charged

The Police have abandoned a criminal case against an S4 student, who was arrested after she abandoned her new-born baby girl near the New Taxi Park. Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson Henry Kalulu on Friday said Joy Kobusingye was willing to reclaim her baby and return to her village in Kanungu district. Kalulu said the Police arrested Kobusingye from a bar in Wandegeya after a tip-off by a local councillor. He said the 18-year-old student of Kinkizi High School in Kanungu fled her home after she was impregnated by her S6 boyfriend.

UTODA wants old park land

The Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers’ Association (UTODA) wants to compensate the 12 developers, who leased plots of land adjacent the Old Taxi Park, the chairman has said. John Ndyomugyenyi said the organisation wanted to construct a four-storied taxi park to ease congestion. He was speaking after the transport sector review meeting at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala on Thursday.
