THE National Resistance Movement (NRM) party members have been cautioned against fronting candidates who have no valid academic qualifications.

The deputy secretary general, Dorothy Hyuha, said the issue of academic qualifications was a constitutional requirement and not debatable. “We have lost over 15 cases in court due to lack of academic papers,” Hyuha said.

She sounded the warning last Friday in Bukedea during the district party delegates’ conference. The conference was assessing the party’s preparations for the 2011 elections.

Hyuha said people intending to be NRM flag-bearers should first be scrutinised by a committees at the grassroots level before they are given a go-ahead. She said the party had also embarked on a campaign against what she called agents of corruption who are failing the Government to achieve its set goals.

“We are going to wage a war against bad leaders,” Hyuha said. She asked party leaders to join the President in the fight against the vice, saying it was the only way to developing the economy.

Hyuha also asked party members to stop fighting each other, saying it exposed their weaknesses and those of the party.
