A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his father.

The high court in Rukungiri, presided over by Justice Yorokamu Bamwine, sentenced John Twijukye on Tuesday for killing Protazio Kakwerere.

Prosecution led by Emmanuel Warigo told court that on April 9, 2007 in Mugyenyi village, Rugyeyo sub-county, Kanungu district, Twijukye murdered his father using a machete after accusing him of bewitching him into impotency.

He said the accused was married with three children but later lost his manhood and the wife decided to leave him. He then killed his father whom he accused of taking away his manhood.

Warigo said the accused handed himself in at Rutenga Police Post, where he recorded a confession that he had killed his father.

Warigo asked Justice Bamwine to give the accused a maximum sentence.

“Though the accused is a first offender, he acted in a brutal manner to kill his own father. I pray that this court gives the accused a heavy punishment to teach the public that a disagreement is not solved by killing,” Warigo appealed to the court.
