Five held over woman's death in Kabale

THE Police in Kabale distirct are holding five people in connection with the murder of a woman identified as Kelen Mwesigye.

The five are also accused of injuring Mwesigye’s daughter, Ruth Rukundo, a second-year student of Information Technology at Makerere University.

The acting district Police commander, Godfrey Biryomumisho, identified the suspects as Calist Tibahurira, 74, Abel Tumushabe, 45, a local defense unit officer in Kabale, John Kyomukama, 25 and Silas Mwebuze, all residents of Kitumba village in Kabale.

The five are said to have shot dead Mwesigye, 63, at her home in Bushoro village. Rukundo was shot in the back and on the arm.

Biryomumisho said the accused were involved in a land wrangle with Mwesigye, adding that they would be charged with murder.

He added that the Police was still searching for the gun used in the shooting.
